A note on pre-washing your jeans if you are going to be using mid-weight denim
We recommend pre-washing your denim before sewing. Putting a large piece of medium-heavyweight denim in the washing machine can sometimes lead to white creases in the denim, this is because it's a stiff fabric so it has no room to move . We recommend doing the following to prevent this from happening: wash your denim alone for the first wash. You don't need to use detergent if you don't want to.
Wet the fabric before putting it in the drum.
If you can split your denim fabric into two pieces, that will help. Or if you already have your pattern, you can cut it into smaller parts by looking at the cutting plan - leave some wiggle room!
For the first wash, use a delicate 30 degree cycle with a low spin.
If white creases develop, ironing the damp fabric will help remove them.
Do not tumble dry .
