This pattern and the instruction booklet are in English.

The Heroine jeans are fitted at the waist with a straight and generous leg.

This is a model for which it is advisable to make a canvas first, first to adjust the model if necessary, but also to become familiar with the instructions for this model. We didn't use traditional jeans seams and opted to topstitch the seam, which is easier to do on a home machine. We have found that a heavyduty thread rather than a topstitch thread gives the topstitch a more authentic look and is easier to use. You may find that you get a better stitch using a matching standard sewing thread in the bobbin.

Paper pattern, sizes 6 to 18. Unless otherwise specified, a 1.5 cm seam allowance is included in the pattern.

Skill Level: Experienced but doable if you take the time!

We recommend using 8-12.5 oz non-stretch denim (up to 14 oz with a heavy-duty machine).

You will also need:

  • Matching thread
  • 17.5cm / 7" metal jeans zip 1 x button approx 18mm
  • jeans needle
  • Plain cotton fabric for pocket lining
  • Strong contrast thread
  • Matching standard contrast thread (for use in the spool)

A note on pre-washing your jeans if you're going to be using mid-weight denim for your Francine:

We recommend pre-washing your denim before sewing. Putting a large piece of medium-heavyweight denim in the washing machine can sometimes lead to white creases in the denim, this is because it's a stiff fabric so it has no room to move . We recommend doing the following to prevent this from happening: wash your denim alone for the first wash. You don't need to use detergent if you don't want to.

Wet the fabric before putting it in the drum.
If you can split your denim fabric into two pieces, that will help. Or if you already have your pattern, you can cut it into smaller parts by looking at the cutting plan - leave some wiggle room!
For the first wash, use a delicate 30 degree cycle with a low spin.
If white creases develop, ironing the damp fabric will help remove them.

Do not tumble dry
