This precious cashmere yarn is spun and dyed in Italy and contains 50% premium cashmere and 50% recycled cashmere from spinning and weaving mills. With this method of production we are able to achieve a total reduction of 74% of water, 66% of energy consumption and 78% of carbon dioxide; an environmental impact 5 times lower than that of 100% virgin cashmere yarn. Virgin fiber comes from direct partnerships in Mongolia with licensed growers; encouraging sustainable animal husbandry and grazing practices, promoting high standards of animal welfare and working to protect this traditional way of life within nomadic communities.
Additionally, Eco Cashmere is dyed with non-toxic and eco-friendly dyes, only the virgin fiber portion is dyed to blend with the shade of the reclaimed fiber. The water used in this process is purified.
The texture and softness are identical to premium cashmere, but the price is lower and the yarn is particularly environmentally friendly. And the dyes are of course azo free.
